Tyler specializes in environmental litigation, enforcement defense and regulatory compliance counseling. From performing leak detection and repair services on oil fields throughout California to advising on one of the largest environmental cleanup projects in the United States, his experience at both the field and executive levels of environmental compliance give him a comprehensive understanding of environmental law.
Before attending law school, Tyler earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz. From there he worked as a Project Manager with one of the largest leak detection and repair service providers for the oil and gas industry in California, Avanti Environmental, gaining first-hand experience of environmental regulations at the field level. While attending law school, as a law clerk for CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company, he assisted in the remediation of the Central Plateau of the Hanford Site, one of the largest and most complex environmental cleanup projects in the United States. From that experience, Tyler gained invaluable exposure to various environmental regulations, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the federal Clean Air Act (CAA), the federal Clean Water Act (CWA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and their state equivalents.
Assisted in complex multi-party litigation and regulatory compliance involving hazardous substances for a multitude of clients, from municipalities to Fortune 500 companies, in both state and federal court.
Conducted research and drafted memoranda on various topics of environmental law, including CERCLA, RCRA and the Porter-Cologne and Hazardous Substances Account Act (HSAA).
